I have the itch....

To be creative.

Seriously it is killing me. I want to have all of the time in the world just to create things right now but I don't. Luckily this semester I don't have to worry about roommates/social life so I am able to have more time to be creative and I love it! I have started working on bows again. I have done some of the normal ones but have also been coming up with some new designs. I want to just keep doing new designs and selling them more. I am in the process of starting to sell them again through my dad taking them to work. I hope it works again and that I can stay semi busy, but not overwhelmed with business while I am still in school this semester.

I have been using scraps of fabric and odds and ends I have collected from random places and have been able to make a lot that I am loving!!! Let me know what you think! :)

This is the last one that I did before I decided to update the blog-a mix of a few designs!

If anyone has ideas for new ways to sell them let me know. Also I have lots of ideas in my head that I am dying to get out in the next little bit so check back to see what I am coming up with! :) I can't wait for more time so I can bust out my sewing machine.... oh the designs and ideas that I have for that!!!! Endless!!!

One Month!!! and Update

It is crazy to think that I have been married to my best friend for a whole month. Since I have been behind in keeping the blog up to date one might ask where that month has gone. So.....

I came home to these beautiful flowers, a large bag of Sour Patch Kids (I am seriously addicted to them.) and a sweet note from my cute husband for us being married for one month. :) I love that boy.

After moving into our apartment we have been busy with starting one semester and finishing the other. I started the exact same day Jared ended (due to my class being cancelled the official first day of classes). Since then I have been busy with school and Jared has been busy with work. Right now he is just doing his ebay business and keeping really busy with that. He has applied for a few internships/jobs but we haven't heard back on any of them. With school I am taking 16 credits this semester including Methods, and Curriculum Development, Food Science, Reading in the Content, and Parenting (online). I have been pretty busy, but am able to find time each day to do something fun with Jared as a break. We started running together which I really enjoy, we take bike rides, cook together, or I work on bows (another post) and he works while we watch our favorites-Castle, Pawn Stars, or Auction Hunters. We are nerds.

On Monday night we made conference bread.... We put a few too many Rhodes rolls in the pan,(Thanks Kara and Alvin!! We love it!) and our oven cooks ridiculous but they turned out good! (Side note: Our oven cooks 75 degrees hotter than the dial says-so you would think if you just turn it down it would cook normal but it still doesn't. The only thing I have had turn out is bread sticks. )

Jared is so good about helping me cook dinner! He also makes my lunches every day in a brown sack and writes my name on the outside and leaves me a note inside. I am sooo blessed!!!

We also have been eating a lot of watermelon and corn on the cob. We had the watermelon on our counter for a day and a half and hadn't touched it until I cut it all up and put it in this awesome container. It is huge. Now it is so much easier to grab and eat. This is definitely something I will continue doing.

I am still waiting on my placement for student teaching but the good news is is that they have been getting them out the past few weeks so it is just when they get around to me... I hope it is soon... I am dying!!!! But the good news is that mid terms are in 2-2.5 weeks. I can't even believe that they are already so close!!!

Date Night, Easter, and the Dino Baby.

We had our first official "date night" last Friday night. We had a couple of gift cards to Wingers so we went and had dinner. After that we headed to the dollar store to finish our Easter Baskets.

(At the dollar store we found a flamingo-which apparently we need for our house so we can be true "trailer trash." Alicia appreciated the effort in finding one-BUT we did not purchase.)

We were gone over Easter weekend in Utah and Shelley-Utah Friday night/Saturday afternoon for Heather Belle's baptism. We are so glad that we got to be a part of it! We are happy you made that decision Heather! Then Sunday was Jared's cousin Kendal's "leaving on a mission talk." Kendal did awesome! He will be a great missionary and we are loving that we can use Dear Elder to write him for free while he is in the MTC. It was great to see both sides of the family and not have the stress of the wedding.

Anyways, we had already decided to do each other's Easter baskets about a month before we got married; we just never finished them. So we shopped at the dollar store and headed home. We put our baskets together and then put them on the couch with a towel over each of them so that we couldn't see what was in them. Then we headed to Walmart and Broulims to get a few things. When we got back the Easter Bunny had been to our house!!! (The Easter bunny had visited us Saturday morning in Utah and Sunday afternoon in Shelley too!)

We opened our baskets and were excited about the things that we found for each other.

I was most excited about a new hand mirror because mine had broke.

Jared was most excited about the dino egg.

We played Connect 4,

Finger Bowling,

and then decided to excavate dinosaur bones.

The dino-egg was actually a lot of fun! We loved doing it-and were easily amused. We took turns doing the different "jobs" and getting excited over finding the bones. After we found all of the bones Jared put it together. We had our own little dino baby! It was a successful date night and we look forward to more in the future!

This One Time....

I married my very best friend. April 9, 2011 was the best day of my life, I became Jared Paul Fielding's wife. It was such a perfect day! For the purpose of this being journaling I am going to be as detailed as I can... just an FYI. :)

Well....for me the preparation kicked in high gear when we started setting up on Thursday night. We were so lucky to have a lot of help with setting up! Mom, Dad, Karissa, Chad, Lisa and kids, Jason Geary, Aunt Kathy and Allison, Aunt Sherry, Holly, Pauline, Kaylee, and Ishmael (I think that was everyone....) were all there to help. We got a ton done! I was amazed with what we got done. Chad and Jason hung the wire across the gym while the rest of us hit the ground to get stuff done. By the time we left Thursday night we had the wire, lanterns, and lights up, tables, tablecloths, backdrop, and chairs all up. The biggest part was done it was just the little-probably time consuming things that still had to be done.

Friday morning started with Jared heading to get his tux in Pocatello and me heading to Amber Arsenault's to get my hair done. (I can do other's hair but I don't trust myself to do my own! She did my hair for my MissRusset pictures, my bridals, and my wedding. SO EXCITED she is having a girl... like this week!!!) After that Jared and I ran a few errands before we headed to Rexburg with Jon and Lindy to take pictures. We left a bit later than planned and we needed to grab something from where Jared and I would be living so we decided to change there. Lindy helped me get dressed while Jared got dressed. Jared and Jon headed to Smith Park where we would meet them. After we go to Smith Park Lindy took Jared and positioned him where she wanted him with his back to me. During this time Kaylee came and delivered our flowers- THEY TURNED OUT AWESOME!!!!!!! Then Lindy took me and put me where she wanted me behind Jared. She gave he okay and then he waited for me to tell him he could turn around. When he did he just stopped. I think he said "WOW.............. You look beautiful............ the dress is perfect and looks amazing on you............" During all of this Lindy captured the moment. :) Then we took pictures at the park and headed to the temple. It was FREEZING outside!

We got some awesome shots with our last one being in the field with the temple behind us.

We LOVE that picture!!! Then as we got in the car it started snowing like crazy!!!! We met up with Kaylee and Ishmael to get the centerpieces and give back my bouquet and Jared's boutonniere. We headed back to the house, changed like mad people, and headed to our dinner. I will say it... we. were. late. BUT I am okay with that because no one seemed to care and we got some AWESOME shots we wouldn't have otherwise. For our dinner Jared and I picked Hawaiian Haystacks with Cheesecake for dessert. It looked great! It was the atmosphere that I wanted and I loved it! We had casual dress so that it was a party! Half of the tables had things about us and our relationship and the other half had the beautiful flower centerpieces.

• Prom
• Our favorite things

At the table we were at it was just us and our parents. After we had a little to eat we started making the rounds visiting with everyone that was there. There were so many people there who love and care about us! It was awesome!!!! I want to have dinners like that just because and for no reason at all!!! :) After the dinner we said goodbye at the church and I headed for pie. In my family pie is a tradition with the girls the night before you get married. This time it was Karissa, Becky, Alicia, Lindy, Holly, and I. I ended up getting food and pie because I was hungry from not getting very much to eat! On the way home Alicia got a phone call and when she said that the person better tell her who they were I, for some reason, knew it was Jared. It turns out I still had his cell phone in my bag from pictures earlier. We headed to his house to drop off the phone. I was excited to get to see him again. :)

Saturday brought lots of fun and excitement. I was up and at Amber's house at 7 a.m. to start my hair. Karissa and Briana joined at about 8. It was a fun and relaxing morning for me because it was quiet and I just chilled with my sister and the girls I grew up playing with. As soon as my hair was done-about 9:45 I headed home. Jared got there shortly after I did. I hurried and changed into my dress and then we were off. Mom drove my car with Jared and I in the back seat. It was cute. We got to the temple and started doing everything that we needed. My mom was able to help me get dressed in the Bride's room which was absolutely breathtaking. There were 20 weddings in Rexburg that day! President Kinghorn was our sealer- I know him because he is my old roommate Ashley Bedke's grandpa, but he also served as the Patriarch for the 4th Stake in Rexburg when Jared's Grandpa Fielding was on the high council. The sealing was beautiful. The room was filled with family and friends. It was packed and I think there were....4 people standing? After the sealing President Kinghorn invited people to come and congratulate us on their way out. I was fine until our siblings and the rest of our immediate family/grandparents/ aunts came. That's when I started to cry. Jared kept telling me not to cry because it is a happy thing but that is why I was crying. There were so many people there who love us-not to mention all of those standing outside or in the waiting room. My mom and Julie came back with me to the brides room to get dressed and head out of the temple. We waited inside until we go the cue that everyone was ready and then we went out. We had to go through one set of doors and let them close before we went through the other to keep the noise out of the temple. When we went out there were so many faces of people we love. It was awesome. Jared took me in a dip and kissed me. Everyone cheered. :)

We did family pictures at the temple, group shots, etc. then we headed to do the pictures we wanted and didn't get on Friday. While we were doing pictures at the temple Jared's parents went and grabbed us Arby's. After we finished with the temple shots we walked down to the stake center below the temple and ate in the Relief Society room. Then we grabbed my parents and headed downtown for pictures.

We were trying to find the live laugh love wall but never found it. We did find a lot of other cool walls and got some great shots!!! After we finished with pictures downtown we headed back to the temple. We were the last bride and groom to leave the temple that day. We had a brief scare of lost keys but we found them and headed to Shelley. We stopped by my house for something.... I don't even remember, then headed to the church. By the time we got to the church it was time to get dressed again and start pictures. The finished gym looked AWESOME!!!!! We loved it. When my mom was fixing the lace up on my dress I noticed a quilt and asked her who made it. It was beautifully pieced, pink and brown out of material that we had bought years earlier for a project. She responded holding back tears that she had. We love it! After pictures it was time for the reception to start. My shoes came off by I think the 2nd person? :) The line was constant except one short give for like maybe 2 minutes. It was CRAZY!!!! Seriously the gym was packed the entire time and the line was out the door. Jared and I were amazed by how many people there were! Randy and Sheila la got us food from the gas station-we were thankful for that! Holly and Julisa made sure we had plenty to drink, and I was able to call Alicia over whenever I needed a picture taken. We were supposed to have a line from 6:30-8 then a dance from 8:00-8:30, but we ended up being in line until 8:40 then danced until about 9. We danced together for our first dance to Love of my Life,

then I danced with my dad to I Loved Her First.

It wasn't long before he started crying-but I was holding back the tears too. We did Cotton-Eyed Joe, the Hokey Poke, Love Story, and a few others. Honestly I don't remember the other ones-I just know we did. Before we left the reception we grabbed the basket of cards and headed out. Our car was lovely-with paint and balloons. We had an escape car at my house but Chad got wind of that and made sure he painted the windows of that car too. We changed out of our formal attire into sweats, grabbed the suitcase and headed out! The day was perfect and we loved every minute of it! Thanks to all who were a part of it!!!!

um....

Has anyone noticed how low my countdown is? just. sayin. It is a very happy thing. It was nice to go home and be with family for conference. This is the first conference that I have been home during since I went to college! I have been in Utah for all but my first one when I just stayed in Rexburg. One of my favorite moments from this weekend was when Jared and I were sitting together and Julia came over and sat with us. She grabbed Jared's cheeks and kissed his lips, then turned and did the same to me. Then she was just talking to him and said "Say cheese" he smiled and said "Cheese" she responded with "Silly Jared, there isn't a camera!" I laughed really hard! She is only 2!!!! Another favorite moment from this weekend was when I was woke up by my mom on Saturday and she handed me Parley. Soon Parker was in with me laying and playing on my bed with me. Then Julia came in. She is just short enough that she couldn't get on my bed, so Parker got down and gave her a boost right under her bum. She got up and sat on top of me and excitedly exclaimed "Parker got me up here. He is SOOOO strong!" with a huge smile. I had all 3 of Chad and Lisa's kids with me for 20 minutes just playing and playing "Lizards" while I still hadn't gotten out of bed. It was so wonderful! I love those kids!!!

Less than one week! Life is wonderful! I just need to finish:

It's that time again...

This picture has nothing to do with this post... I stumbled upon it tonight while looking through pictures and it made me smile really big. BUT the "time" I am talking about is the END OF THE SEMESTER!!! In the next 10 days I have a lot to do, but then I get a week off. :) It will be the best break between semesters EVER. My first week married to my best friend. I kinda like him a whole lot. It is a little twitter-pating.

The Untold Stories...

Of The Four Sisters.

Lately I have been reminded of quite a few good memories from my time working for Debbie Evans. It was the best job I could have had in high school! She was so patient with me, worked around my schedule, and was an awesome boss! Here are a few of the "untold stories" from working there, an inside look.

This is Debbie's old JAG. One time I had to go and pick it up for her from the mechanic in Arco I believe. On the way back I found out that it drives beautifully at 85 mph. It wasn't on purpose that I found that out, but I did, then I decided to stick with 75.

This is what I spent a large majority of my time doing. Painting Boards. I have even been told that I am a PROFESSIONAL "Crackeler"

This is the basement of the shop that I helped Debbie redo. It was quite the project it took time, but it was fun and it looked awesome when we finished!

When Jordyn Wilde worked there we would find random things while cleaning and model for Debbie. It kept work interesting!!

I have no idea what this picture is!

One day while cleaning we found Debbie's wedding dress. She had me model it. The best part is that while I was modeling this Jared's mom came in. Luckily at that point I was upstairs, and I am sure she doesn't even know this story! But Debbie and I laughed because it was before I was "dating" Jared but I still liked him a ton and Debbie knew it!

• I introduced Debbie to Taylor Swift. I think I have forever changed her in the music world now. ;)
• One time for about two weeks we were stuck on the song "One Week" by BareNaked Ladies. She was impressed by how much I knew of it.
• I used to find change all over and kept putting it in a pile. I would always tell Debbie that "She was rich!" and that I was going to find her a million dollars. I never did.
• I learned the most effective ways of cleaning while working for Debbie.
• One time Debbie went to the cannery and canned a bunch of cans of "Cocoa" I was the only one who knew they were actually full of candy. She did this so she would have something to barter with if she ever needed to rely on it. Last August (3 years later) we found them and she gave them to me. I laughed really hard.
• I have a cream beanie that I wore all of the time during the winter. She loved it! One Christmas I gave her a Willow Tree statue with two women facing each other with their hands clasped. I had my mom crochet a little cream beanie for the one that is me. :) It made us both really happy.
• One time when working late to finish up a big project we just turned up the music and jammed out. You could probably hear it across the street because it was sooo loud!

These are just a few of the stories from working for her. I wish I had a better record because I am sure there are way more. I loved my job! I was so lucky to have such an awesome job in high school! She was the best boss anyone could ask for! It was a sad day last August when I helped her pack her store up.

Field Trip and the Temple

For my HFED 380 Connecting Education to Employment Class we went on a field trip to Boise on March 3-4. It was fast and we did a lot but it was a lot of fun! There were 12 of us in a 12 passenger van which was very squished. It was kinda crazy. (Don't judge my appearance- I had been on the bus all day.)

On Thursday we went to Tucano's Brazillian Grill and it was a lot of fun! Our bill for the 12 of us was (I think) 458. Somewhere in that range. I was floored!!

At Tucano's Sister Empey made us try Calamari. A bit chewy. If you don' t know what it is... click the link. It tasted fine. The texture got me.

Me, Christina, and Lauren in the most expensive fabric store I have ever been in... $120 for a yard? No thanks! But we did have the best talk in that store and made a lot of memories in the 20 minutes we were in there!

I was amazed on this field trip by all of the opportunities students have in high school now. Seriously they can leave high school and go straight into the workforce making 50,000 a year if they choose certain pathways. They can leave as a certified welder, a CNA, a MA, an EMT, with a food handlers permit, and those are just a few.

After I got back at 12:30 a.m. from my field trip I went to bed. I woke up on Saturday March 5 and got ready to go to the temple for my first time. It was a great experience. The temple worker that was helping me was so sweet and just grabbed my hand and held it leading me to where I needed to go and helped me with everything I needed. She was adorable. It was a small session and the majority of people who were there were there for me. I kept it really small and just invited a few family members. I am thankful to all of those who came to support me. I had an awesome first experience. The next Thursday I went again to do initiatory with my mom and my roommate Carrie in Idaho Falls. Last night I went with Carrie and we did a session in the Rexburg temple. I love the celestial room! BEAUTIFUL! I love the temple and I am so grateful that I had the chance to go a month early so that I can continue to build my testimony of it before I get married.

My Favorite Shirt

Now, if you can manage to steal your eyes from the man behind the shirt, look closely.  At first glance, this shirt appears to be a normal, manufactured shirt, but look again!  At second glance...well it still looks like a shirt you'd buy at the store.  Truth is, my lovely Kara made this for me.  It is of the finest workmanship and is comparable to that of a professional with years of experience.  It is my favorite shirt; it fits great and is extremely comfortable.  Thanks so much Kara!  I'm sure she will post better pictures later without the distracting person in the shirt.  p.s. 30 days!!!

30 days?

Life is busy. But life is so good, and will only be getting better. I have 4.5 weeks left in this semester-which not only means I will have 6 semesters of college done but also that in 4.5 weeks I get to marry my best friend.

I have been so busy lately with school and wedding plans. I feel like I have sooo much to blog about! Here are some bullet points of what has been going on lately-I know I did this last time but it is the best way to update quickly and about everything! :)

• Last night we had a stake "songfest" where every ward came prepared with some type of Disney song lip sync or dance or something. Our ward won. We are that cool! My favorite part was at the end when we were all screaming and cheering extremely loud and the Bishop came up to cheer with us-they lifted him up on their shoulders and he was pumping the trophy up and down with the proudest smile I have ever seen.
• I made a pair of dress pants! I also got 140.5/145 on them. I am extremely impressed with how my sewing skills are improving. I will post pictures of them and the shirt another time.
• I found out that I did get assigned the South Salt Lake area for student teaching-I just don't know which district I will be in for sure yet. Even though she told me I would be there it is good to see it on the computer as official.
• I submitted my last lesson plan for preschool and teach for the last time a week from today. I am excited! That means this class is slowing down for me while the rest are picking up! A good switch up I guess.

Happenings.

In no particular order these are some of the events (and thoughts) that have been happening in my life (good and bad):

• We put the family dog, Honey, to sleep. We had her for 15.5 years and we got her when she was 5. An old but incredibly good dog.
• I got my plaid shirt back and got a 94% on it.
• My dress pants are almost done.
• Next project: Lined Pencil Skirt-"SEW" excited (roll eyes.... now)
• I only teach preschool ONE more time.
• I gave a presentation today (which I found out about Tuesday) and went first. After I went the class commented on me setting the bar high. It made me smile.
  
• Mid-Term grades came out and I have all A's
• Bridal shower #1 down and a success. Lots of great stuff.
• Only 6 weeks left in the semester.
• Announcements came and are sooo cute.
• Ashley Balmforth now gets to come to my reception-she was supposed to be in Utah and this makes me happy. I love that girl.
• I hate lizards. I just taught my preschool lesson on them and informed Jared we will have a normal pet-a dog.
• The pictures of my life are all scanned in waiting on Jared's so we can have our video done.
• I haven't been getting nearly enough sleep or exercise lately-I have been busy with homework.
• Only one more semester on the BYU-Idaho campus... that went quick.
• I will have a bachelor's degree in 10 months.
• I feel sooo unprepared for the PRAXIS-good thing I have 2 months to study.
• Getting presentations done 2 weeks in advance is really nice... 3 weeks is even better.
• Last week 2 of my 4 teachers were gone but we still had class. It was a chill week but VERY productive.
• I now know how to sew a fly zipper.
• I have been spoiled by the sergers and sewing machines at school-it makes me want to spend a lot of money and buy the exact same ones... one day.

Those are just a few of the happenings lately. I will post pictures of something soon... sorry if this post is boring-it helps my brain think clearly to get it out though.

Because...

Honestly, my life has been rough lately. I have been super busy and feel like I haven't had time to think. I feel like areas of my life have fallen to the floor and now I have to scramble to pick up all of the pieces. But my family has been great. They are such a strength and support to me. Jared has been awesome reminding me what it is all about and what we know is important. My roommates have been great. Tonight while talking to Carrie she said "Kara, I know why it has been so hard for you lately, it is because of all the good that is coming in your life." It hadn't clicked in my head that Satan has been working on me because of everything that is coming up. It was a great reminder to keep my chin up and keep pressing forward. Life will slow down, April will come. I can make it through. We all have our own struggles and trials and I am very aware of what mine are right now-they are right before my eyes-too close to see the big picture. BUT Heavenly Father knows what is best and is mindful of me. My Savior knows what I am going through. I can always get on my knees and pray, and ask for strength to make it through. I am never alone.

In 18 Days I go to the temple.

In 53 days I will be sealed to my best friend for time and all eternity.

The Culprits

Apparently I am allergic to the COMBINATION of Cinnamon and Nutmeg. If I have them alone I am fine. If I have them together... My tongue itches, inside my lips itch, and around my mouth itches... at least that is all that has happened the two times I have reacted to it. These are the only two things that have been in the food that I have reacted to that are similar. Last time it was in my textiles class from a muffin someone gave me (which was sooo good and so healthy- I am bummed I can't really eat them!) and today it was in my Connecting Ed. class when I ate applesauce someone gave me to try for a project we are doing. Last time I had to go to the health center and get checked out-get a bottle of Benadryl and that zonked me. I am so glad I kept the bottle in my backpack because when the reaction came MUCH quicker this time I knew what was going on and was able to get it in me. It zonked me again. Benadryl makes me so tired! Crazy, I just made the connection both of my reactions have been on a Tuesday!

Anyways, Life is good! Midterms are NEXT WEEK! I can't believe the semester is half way over already! That means only one more full semester here before I student teach... that is kind of scary to me! But at the same time I am really excited! I am excited to find out exactly where and what I will be teaching. BUT I am super nervous to take the PRAXIS test! I take that on April 30. 200 questions I have to get a 159 to pass! I plan on starting the studying/reviewing process in the next few weeks after I get my last lesson plan for preschool turned in. Life will slow down (classes wise) the week of March 15 because that is the week that I teach the last time for preschool as well as finish the "class" portion of it-then I will only have lab 2x a week. :)

I turned in my plaid shirt for my sewing class on Monday. I am excited to see how I did on it... it was hard, but I feel like I did my very best and am very pleased with how it turned out. We started making tailored pants which means learning how to do a fly zipper. I am nervous and excited about that! After that project we have a lined skirt (my pattern is sooo cute!), a knit project, and then a quilted project. Life is busy, but good! 59 days!!! Time is flying!!

Tender Mercy

Today has been rough. More than that this week has been rough... I have had a rocky time since Christmas mostly. But today something happened in my special ed class. At the end of class our teacher started telling us this story about his life and I didn't see how it related at all-I still don't know how it related. But then he showed us this video. It was a tender mercy from Heavenly Father and EXACTLY what I needed.

I won't give up.
